Building/Remodeling Contractors and Soccer Moms; A comparison.

Building /Remodeling Contractors should take note of the practices of a Soccer Mom

Soccer Moms have to run a tight ship.

Soccer Moms have to coordinate multiple schedules.

Soccer Moms have to make critical decisions on the fly.

Soccer Moms have to keep everyone and everything happy and families running smoothly.

Wouldn’t it be great if every Contractor ran their company like a soccer mom runs her family?

Contractors should run a tight ship.

Contractors should coordinate multiple schedules.

Contractors should make critical decisions on the fly.

Contractors should try to keep everyone happy and jobs running smoothly.

After raising three sons I think I qualify as a true Soccer Mom. So I speak from experience.

It’s a learning process. You have to get homework done, pick up from school, drop off at practice, manage to work in dinner, have a bath, and clean some uniforms, read a book…off to sleep. And then start it all over again the next day. And we’re not even talking weekends and summers. So after a few weeks (months) it becomes second nature. And a Soccer Mom is born. It’s exhausting and rewarding.

The same should be true for a contractor. It’s a learning process. Design the project, estimate the project (with accuracy), create a contract, order all necessary products, schedule all the labor & contractors, adjust for unknowns, communicate, communicate, communicate .Adapt to the weather, adjust for product backorders, adjust for change orders, communicate, communicate, and communicate. Keep everything running smoothly and everyone happy. And start it all over again the next day…

Oh and make a living while you’re at it.

If you have any experience with a Super Contractor please tell me what made her or him so SUPER!!
